Teacher digital competence of teachers in initial training of chilean public universities

Abstract: Developing digital competence of teachers (DCT) in Initial Teacher Training is a key factor for the effective use of technologies in the process of teaching and learning, teacher professional development. Initial Teacher Training (ITT) study programs should contribute to attain these competences. This article presents the findings of content analysis programs of ICT subjects in pedagogy programs, using the matrix of indicators for the DCT in ITT. The analysis was applied on three sampling units: foundations of the subject, learning objectives and contents. The results show that the "didactics, curricular and methodological” dimensions behave more coverage. The dimension with the least curriculum coverage was that of "ethical, legal and security” dimensions. Chilean universities need further work in integrating ICT the programs in ITT for a better achievement of the CDD in future teachers
